1.1 Curriculum
· 2013 Curriculum- an IT based curriculum. Students are not allowed to sit too long in the computer subject, rather, they can learn it outside classroom. It pushes teachers to move away from the traditional teacher-centered classroom. In real terms, this means that teachers are to spend less time lecturing students and more time teaching through inquiry. Teachers should facilitate the learning process by asking guided questions that help students discover content for themselves. Students are expected to become active and engaged learners, it stir curiosity in students in order to build their critical-thinking and communication skills.
1.2 Teaching plan related to your major
· PPP- The English teachers in SD Muhammadiyah Pakem used the Presentation, practice and production, a method of teaching structure for grammar and vocabulary specifically the English language.
1. Presentation phase- controlled by the teacher, the teacher used a text, an audio tape or visual aids to demonstrate a situation.
2. Practice Phase- In the practice phase learners practiced speaking or writing grammar structure correctly in their work book which was provided for them to practice to work, the teachers Mr. Sapto and Ms. Pratiwi conducted several activities for the pupils to practice what they had learned from the concept being presented.
3. Production Phase- In this phase, they used the newly learnt language structure to produced oral or written texts. Typical production activities includes simple dialogues or conversation inside the classroom just like greetings, good morning, good afternoon, or a simple how are you? And being asked back by how about you, is some of the English language that the children learned from the presentation and practice phase routine from the teacher’s pedagogies.
4. CLT- A communicative language teaching the teachers used to developed the communication skills of the students by the used of the English language through interaction, in some part of the discussion Mr. Sapto and Ms. Pratiwi asked the student a question by the used of English language. In my own opinion, the learners honed their communication skills through this kind of interaction.
